Cooking with Denby

We hope that you’re adjusting well to the current situation.

With many of us spending much more time at home, and looking for new ways to keep occupied, entertain little one, and maximise the use of store cupboard ingredients, we thought we’d share some of our favourite recipes from our friends at Denby that you might find useful at this time.

Cooking with kids

Cooking can be a great way to help children learn new skills, bond as a family and get dinner or a snack sorted to boot.  Weighing and measuring out the ingredients can help little ones with their maths, and is good practice for reading and following instructions.

Batch cooking

Batch cooking can be an excellent way to save time in the kitchen; enabling you to cook additional portions to freeze ahead, ready for reheating when you need them.  Batch cooking also helps us all to minimise waste, and our trips out for ingredients.

Chilli con carne who doesn’t love a good chilli? Amend this recipe (serves 6) for your desired serving size, and you can fill up the freezer with a great staple meal to serve with rice, veggies or a jacket potato at the drop of a hat.

Spicy sweet potato, coconut and ginger soup double the amount so you have some to freeze.  This deliciously creamy soup is a great lunch option.  We think it could also work well as a curry sauce.  Simply add chicken, prawns, or some extra veg and serve with rice to make this a hearty meal.
